Introducing my new 11-week old Cockatiel: Yukine.

It’s only been a few months since Chakuro died, but I decided the time was right to get another cockatiel. So on Saturday, I brought an Albino-Lutino Cockatiel.

It took quite a while to decide a name, two days, whereas Chakuro had a name within a couple of hours. after a lot of consideration and watching him, I decided to name him Yukine. Firstly as a reference to a character in Noragami: Stray god (most of my pet names are references to something) But also because in Japanese Yuki means Snow and Happiness. Well, as you can see in the pictures above, he’s not quite pure white, but he is very close. So for me, it feels right.

Yukine in Noragami is a blond-haired, golden-eyed ball of innocence which I felt matched quite well. I do think ill take to shortening his name to Yuki quite a bit, though or perhaps Yu. I haven’t fully decided as of yet. So introducing my new 11-week old Cockatiel: Yukine. I am sure there will be many more posts about him. I am thinking of doing a series of posts around the taming of him. He’s a lively, headstrong bundle of feathers, so I am sure I have got my work cut out for me.

Yukine from Noragami.
